I founded Iron Crow Designs in my garage, working primarily with found objects, driftwood, scrap metal and salvaged lumber. It began as a physical creative outlet, something to counterbalance the long hours of mind-work I spend at a desk as a writer.

I come from a family of artists and craftsmen. My grandfather was a master tailor, my great grandfather was a master carpenter, and my father was a painter and sculptor of the post-war period in Paris.  I spent much of my youth in and around his atelier, learning how to use my hands.

I later worked as a landscaper, a stone mason, a set carpenter for The Public theater, a set painter in the art department for Kadan Productions and completed countless other “artistic” renovation projects. All of this has contributed in some way to my obsession with making things, tinkering, reusing and recreating.
